CESKY KRUMLOV - PRAGUE Day 7 - ThursdayMeals included: Buffet Breakfast and dinner. Visit KONOPISTE CASTLE; inside visit with local guide. Originally a Gothic castle, built in 1300. In 1887 the castle became the seat of the heir to the throne, Franz Ferdinand, who was assassinated together with his Czech wife Sophia Chotek in 1914 in Sarajevo causing WWI to set off here. Franz Ferdinand converted the castle into an opulent residence filled with rich furniture, works of art and lavish decorations. The castle is decorated with 3,000 trophies hunted by F. Ferdinand, just 1% of the trophies hunted by him within his short life.

A Gothic castle built by Emperor Charles IV in the years 1348 – 1357 to house relics and imperial jewels, later also Czech coronation jewels.
